What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse RN Perinatal Educator position at OSF HealthCare?
Pay range for this position is $36.25 - $47.79/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Perinatal Nurse Educator will provide prenatal education and postpartum outreach services for the OSF St. Anthony Medical Center obstetric patients and their families. He/She will provide coordination and guidance throughout the perinatal process, providing continuity of care and quality of services as the patient and family make the transition through pregnancy, delivery and hospital discharge into parenthood. The Perinatal Nurse Educator is directly responsible to the Clinical Nurse Manager and will confer with and operate under the Maternal/child Nurse Specialist.
We are an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recover, Postpartum) Women’s health unit, which means all Nursing staff are trained for Labor & Delivery, Post-partum, OBGYN Triage, Lactation support, Operating room, PACU, Level II Nursery and GYN surgical cases. Women’s Health Hospital RN, Patient education and Lactation consultant experience is preferred.
Job requirements:
- BLS/CPR Class to start and every 2 years
- ACLS Class to start and every 2 years
- NRP Class to start and every 2 years
- STABLE Class to start and every 2 years
- Electronic Fetal monitoring Class to start and every 2 years. All levels: Basic, Intermediate and advanced
- IBCLC completion with in 1st year of hire if not already completed.
Orientation time period depends on level and years of experience. (6-12 weeks)
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of Clinical Obstetric experience with exposure to breast feeding mothers. Current Illinois Nursing License. - Graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Healthcare Provider CPR must be completed prior to employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Baccalaureate in Nursing. Prenatal Education and Lactation Consultant certification preferred, or in the process of being completed within one year of hire.
