Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: The EKG Technician attaches patients to electrocardiograph machines and/or heart monitors to record electrocardiograms for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating heart disorders/disease. Explains procedures to patients, attaches electrode leads, monitors patients and strips during tests, and stores results for review by cardiologist. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School/GED
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- Must successfully complete EKG training upon hire.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree
- EKG or direct patient care experience
- Work requires ability to read, write and communicate effectively with other members of the Patient Care Team, in person, by telephone and computer messaging, at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school education.
- Analytical ability necessary to prioritize own work load to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Completing and Passing EKG class, as well as passing EKG competency every 12 months.
