Expected pay for this position is $29.01 - $34.13/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
Candidates in Illinois or Michigan with inpatient coding experience or those who have already completed PCS procedure coding training are encouraged to apply.
Training will be completed onsite for 1 week and the remainder of training will be performed remotely. Location of training to be determined based on applicant location and facility availability.
Position Summary
The Lead Coding Specialist oversees the coordination of accurate and compliant coding and charging to ensure adherence to established current ICD codes and CPT/HCPCS coding guidelines along with all governmental and third party payers policies. The position ensures coding quality and productivity standards achieved and maintained for all coded data. Specialist serves as coding expert for revenue cycle division and facility departments within OSF HealthCare. In addition the Specialist completes special projects assigned and provides backup to all revenue cycle coding positions.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates HIM, Business, Accounting, Health Services
Other Licenses/Certifications: CPC, RHIA, RHIT or CCS
Experience: 1 year experience in outpatient or inpatient coding.
Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachleors Degree
Experience: 3 years experience in outpatient or inpatient coding.
Other requirements/information: ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS and modifier knowledge.
