Head Coach Salary - $5,000 / Season
Schedule of Coaching Season:
11/17/2025 - 03/07/2025
1. Protect student-athlete safety by teaching safe practices, inspecting equipment and evaluating student-athlete readiness for specific activities.
2. Instruct, motivate, supervise, and organize students participating in interscholastic athletics.
3. Conform coaching conduct to professional staff work rules (e.g. appropriate language, appearance, game conduct, etc.) and be a positive role model for the program.
4. Communicate goals, expectations, rules and coaching philosophy with everyone involved in the program.
5. Be familiar with the WIAA Official Handbook and Season Regulations and the Oshkosh Area School District Athletic Handbook and Coaches’ Handbook.
6. Orient participating athletes to the rules and regulations of the WIAA and the Oshkosh Area School District.
7. Ensure the following are on file prior to an athlete competing in practice:
a. Physical Card
b. Agreement of Parent and Athlete
c. Athletic Insurance Agreement
d. Payment of Athletic Fee
8. Submit to the athletic director the following in a timely manner:
a. Eligibility Form
b. Transportation Request Form
c. Varsity letter criteria
d. Budget Requests
e. End-of-the-season forms
9. Responsible for supervision of student-athletes throughout practice/games and after practice/games until the student-athlete leaves the premises.
10. Responsible for building security during any practice or competition conducted during non-school hours (e.g. lock doors, turn off lights, etc.)
11. When learning of an alleged violation by an athlete, inform the athletic director/school building principal and cooperatively take appropriate action.
12. Attend any required WIAA rules interpretation and seeding meetings and complete any necessary tests.
13. Organize awards program and other special events common to the particular sport such as parent’s night, invitationals and WIAA Tournament Events.
14. Maintain a record of written practice plans.
15. Keep an inventory of all equipment and be responsible for the issuing and returning of such equipment.
16. Supervise all assistant coaches in designated sport and evaluate them on coaching effectiveness at the end of each season.
17. Respond in a timely fashion to local media requests and provide results of any varsity contests.
18. Cooperate with existing feeder programs; support other programs consistent with OASD.
19. Inform the athletic director and school office of any cancellations and schedule changes.
20. Work with the athletic director in formulating schedules for the upcoming season.
21. Attend any training deemed necessary by the athletic/activities director.
22. Shall perform such other duties as may be determined by the administrative staff within parameters of the master agreement, Board of Education policies, state statutes, and administrative rules.
Qualifications
1. State of Wisconsin certification as a teacher is preferred. (If not teacher certified, must complete the WIAA ASEP course within the required time period).
2. Prior coaching experience.
3. Knowledge of and experience in the sport.
4. Effective communication skills.
5. Effective organizational skills.
6. CPR/AED certification.
