What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth & Family Engagement Specialist position at Oshkosh Community YMCA?
Brief Description
This position supports the work of the Y, by actively engaging and building relationships with the youth at the YMCA. Engagement Specialists provide quality supervision to youth, provide a safe and friendly atmosphere for our programs, and assist with the success of special events/family programs.
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday from 3-5pm, 12-5pm on no school days and school holiday breaks (based on the Oshkosh Area School District calendar). A couple of times per year, will be asked to work a youth lock-in (typically Saturday night until Sunday morning).

Essential Functions
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting, acknowledging, and building relationships with all youth.
- Monitor arrival of youth after school.
- Provide supervision and uphold safety standards.
- Address problematic behaviors amongst youth.
- Keep a fun and safe environment for our guests that is well maintained and organized.
- Develop healthy relationships with youth and families by actively engaging with individuals through conversations, games, projects, and special events.
- Set up/Clean up program areas and equipment to support youth & family program offerings.
- Assist with monthly special events and family programs.
- Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Qualified candidates must be creative, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and outgoing.
- Child Abuse Prevention Training (within 60 days of employment).
- CPR/First Aid/AED Training (within 60 days of employment).
- Must be 16 years or older.
- Ability to function independently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
