· One of the most unique and sought-after aspect of our department is our Patrol Schedule which allows officers to have off at least two weekends each month. The 10-hour shift creates a better work-life balance and maximizes officer efficiency and community responsiveness. The 10-hour work schedule consists of the following rotation:

o 5 days on, 4 days off

o 5 days on, 4 days off

o 5 days on, 5 days off

· Applicants are encouraged to bring their unique skills to the department and pursue their interests through our specialty teams and positions. These teams enable officers to expand their skill sets and focus on specific law enforcement areas of interest while applying best practices to help keep the community safe. These include:

o Behavioral Health Officer

o School Resource Officer

o Detective

o Vice and Narcotics Unit

o K9 Unit

o Bike Patrol

o Motorcycle Unit

o Mobile Field Force Team

o SWAT

o Honor Guard

o Crash Investigation Team

o Crisis Negotiations Team

o Drone Team

· Our department believes in equipping our officers with premier training resources. We have an immersive virtual reality training simulator in which officers are placed in interactive real-life scenarios. This system allows officers to work on a variety of skills including de-escalation techniques, communication, active listening, decision-making, judgement and problem solving.

Qualifications for Hire:

· Possess a minimum of 15 credits from an accredited college or university. (*Successful applicants must complete the 60-credit state requirement within their first 5 years of employment.)

· Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License at the time of appointment.

· Age 20 or older.

· U.S. citizenship with no felony or Domestic Abuse related convictions.

· Physical fitness is necessary to meet the demands of the job.
