Materials REL Engineer

We are seeking a Materials Reliability team is looking for a highly motivated individual with background in various materials such as polymers, metals, and glass to guide development teams towards a reliable design of new products and their components. Through deep investigation and collaboration, we strive to provide customers with an experience of enduring quality through these products so integral to our lives. Candidate will assist in management of the reliability programs, development of new test procedures to quantify the reliability of a design, and analysis of reliability data to inform design decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute reliability programs for new material components
- Develop and implement test procedures to validate material reliability
- Lead root cause analysis for material failures using lab-based techniques
- Analyze test/field data and present clear, actionable insights
- Collaborate with engineering teams to influence design decisions
- Apply FMEA and predictive reliability modeling to improve outcomes
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field (MS a plus)
- 3β5 years in reliability, engineering, or project management roles
- Strong lab experience and understanding of material properties (mechanical, electrical, optical)
- Hands-on experience with material characterization tools (SEM/EDS, XPS, XRD, FTIR, etc.)
- Skilled in statistical data analysis (JMP, Minitab, Excel)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Experience working with OEMs or in consumer electronics
- Familiarity with polymers, glass, or metal alloys
- Proficiency in MATLAB
- Project management experience
Location: Hybrid (Cupertino, CA)
Duration: 6 months
Salary: $70/h - $80/h (DOE)
