Job Summary
The Hardware Reliability Engineering team at OSI Engineering is seeking an initiative-taking individual to join our efforts in ensuring and improving the durability and reliability of new products. As part of a diverse team, you will collaborate with hardware engineering groups throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to field returns.
This role involves driving failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to ensure robust design, developing and implementing innovative reliability tests, and analyzing experimental data to provide in-depth understanding of design features.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing concise and detailed reliability test plans and reports with an emphasis on prioritizing tasks to meet challenging deadlines.
- Developing new reliability tests, procedures, and specifications.
- Analyzing experimental data to provide in-depth understanding of design features.
- Researching state-of-the-art technology to understand root causes of test failures.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of mechanical assemblies and industry test standards (JEDEC, ASTM, IEEE). The focus is on system-level mechanical design and validation.
- Experience with a mechanical engineering or materials science background, with hands-on experience in design, reliability, validation, and thermal analysis.
- Proficient in failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, x-ray/CT scans, scanning electron microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and energy dispersive spectroscopy.
- Expertise in applying Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Digital Image Correlation (DIC).
