With a global presence, we have offices here in Canada, the UK, Taiwan, Australia and Germany.Position OverviewThe CAD Designer assists in the creation and revision of models and drawings of advanced complexity, in support of the development, and sustainment, of OSI’s consoles, racks, peripherals and IBS systems. The CAD Designer is expected to deliver accurate models and drawings in accordance with OSI standards.RESPONSIBILITIESCreate and revise models and drawings of mechanical components, electrical components and electro-mechanical assembliesCreate and revise cable drawings and schematic diagramsCreate redlines on behalf of HWE and Production personnelCreate and submit CRs and CNs in PLM systemCreate and revise item records and BoMs in PLM systemConduct physical measurements of equipmentConduct Level 1 checks of drawingsConduct interference checks within modelsPrepare model packages for Supply Chain transmittalsParticipate in design reviewsDesign sheet metal, machined and welded components, with oversight from MEsCreate conceptual drawings and renderings for BDCommunicate with external suppliersSupport preparation, development and sustainment of procedures and work instructions for CAD OperationsAssist with administration of PDM VaultCreate and revise drawing templates in PDM VaultMentor Junior CAD DesignersComply with workplace operating and environmental guidelines, and health and safety proceduresKNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONSEducation :
2 or 3 year diploma in mechanical technology (or equivalent industry experience) with training in 3D modeling and technical draftingExperience :
4 years of experienceExperience with the following is required : Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (AutoCAD Inventor optional)Basic proficiency in AutoCADFamiliarity with PDM Vault (SolidWorks PDM Professional preferred)Advanced proficiency in the design of sheet metal, machined and welded componentsFamiliarity with electrical drawingsFamiliarity with Change Management processesFamiliarity with PLM software such as PDXpertExtensive knowledge of ASME Y14.X Drawing StandardsFamiliarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and TolerancingExtensive knowledge of DFM and DFA practicesExperience with the following is an asset : Familiarity with administration of PDM VaultFamiliarity with naval platform environmentWhy OSI?At OSI, we invest in your growth with professional development support—funding, time, and opportunities to advance your career.
