The Project Manager (PM) function brings a disciplined approach to project planning and engineering resource management to achieve business performance objectives. The position requires New Product Development (NPD) project management and planning experience, and enough technical acumen to communicate with engineers to maintain project completion deadlines.
The Project Manager must develop project plans, budgets, resource allocation dependencies/conflict schedules, reports, and presentations for a senior management audience. The position will report directly to the Senior Director of Research and Development.
Responsibilities
The Program Manager will work to manage cross functional deliverables within a strong matrix organization. The ownership of programs entails the following:
- Build new product development project schedules, budgets, and conduct project meetings.
- Build project schedules to assist sales with project quotes and timelines.
- Generate statement of work documents for custom projects.
- Track projects on the revenue plan and receipt of customer purchase orders to identify engineering resource bandwidth gaps or conflicts for project reprioritization.
- Manage resource dependencies among projects.
- Build an engineering department resource allocation model to identify bandwidth constraints and conflicts with shifting priorities.
- Capture and organize software/hardware bug and change requests for prioritization.
- Organize new product development and software development project meetings and produce review slides to report progress.
- Track and organize a system compliance testing plan for legacy and future products.
- Identify and organize documentation gaps and coordinate a plan for completion, distributing engineering bandwidth appropriately while maintaining project schedules.
- Responsible for updating senior management on key issues and elevate any issues that need assistance with resolution. Must have the ability to create and deliver communications appropriate for a senior management audience.
- Draft and submit budget, proposals, forecasts, quotes, monthly billing and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
- Be able to analyze and develop potential corrective actions for program slips
- Develop and present program performance metrics such as performance against plan, critical path and forecast to complete
- Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
- Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle
- Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
- Conduct program performance reviews and create recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful program elements. Develop best practices and tools for program execution and management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar related degree.
- Minimum of 5 years direct work experience in a project/program management capacity, including all aspects of product development life cycle management.
- Experience leading successful, complex, cross-discipline initiatives required.
- Exceptional project/program management competence and skills.
- Strong familiarity with project management software required, MS Project, JIRA, DevOps.
- Ability to travel within the US and internationally up to 10%.
Pluses
- PMP Certification
- General understanding of FAR, DFARS, HSAR and Contract Clauses for applicability, overall impact to the organization and program
- Background in and understanding in federal acquisition process
- Experience in large capital equipment design and installation
- Experience with imaging system design projects
