The Supplier Manufacturing Engineer is the primary technical contact between Spacelabs and the supplier regarding product quality and delivery. The SMEdrives improvements related to our supply base, evaluates supplier performance, and works with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to prioritize improvements needed for incoming products and/or services. The Supplier Manufacturing Engineer then works with suppliers to implement action plans to meet Spacelabs’ incoming quality, reliability and delivery requirements.
***This role is hybrid, with the expectation of 3-4 days per week in Snoqualmie, Washington. You must live within a commutable distance or be willing to relocate to the local area.***
Responsibilities
- Work with R&D and manufacturing, leading supplier selection, development and qualification activities, including identification of project risks, mitigation activities, project schedules, supplier ASL process, approval of supplier process documents.
- Work with R&D and Suppliers to resolve DFM issues during the NPI stage.
- Participate, and lead where appropriate, re-sourcing efforts (moving product from one supplier to another).
- Evaluate supplier change requests and ensure they are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Provide input to Receiving Inspection and Operations Engineering when additional incoming evaluation controls are needed to mitigate risks of product non-conformances.
- Support cross functional teams to develop and approve part qualifications, FAIReview and FAIR activities.
- Work with the supplier in establishing the manufacturing and assembly process at the supplier to ensure the process yields parts that meet Spacelabs specifications and quality requirements.
- Work with the supplier in designing and executing DOEs and Capability Studies to implement new processes or improve current processes.
- Analyze scorecards, dashboards and NMR reports pinpointing opportunities for FPY improvement activities.
- Work with the Supply Chain Quality engineer to establish supplier quality control plans and measures.
- Ensure that supplier actions are implemented to minimize and mitigate risks to Spacelabs.
- Ensure measurement system evaluations are completed and acceptable for Spacelabs products.
- Support supplier baseline assessments and gap analysis particularly focused on manufacturing, special processes, in-process controls and final acceptance.
- Participate as required in supplier audits and assessments.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering or 4 years of related experience.
- 2 years of experience in technical supplier coordination.
- Working knowledge of Process Excellence Tools (Six Sigma & Lean).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience with statistical analysis and analysis tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well cross-culturally and cross-functionally.
- Ability to evaluate processes and determine process capability.
- Working knowledge of ISO9000, MDR, ISO13485, and/or 21 CFR part 820, or experience working in a highly regulated industry.
- Proficient use of MS Office tools, Visio, and statistical analysis tools (Minitab preferred).
- Understanding of ERP and other workflow database software.
- Experience with change control systems / quality management systems is a plus.
- Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
- CQE or CQM preferred.
- Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with different time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet business needs.
- Domestic travel required <10%. Must travel internationally and be able to acquire all necessary travel documents.
