What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Engineer, Trace Detection Systems position at OSI Systems?
Rapiscan Laboratories specializes in designing and manufacturing security and inspection systems used worldwide to detect contraband. Our products are employed for inspecting baggage, cargo, people, vehicles, and other objects for weapons, explosives, narcotics, and other illicit substances.
We are seeking an experienced engineering professional to lead our team in developing new Trace detection products and providing sustained support for existing products. The Chief Engineer, Trace Detection Systems will be responsible for directing and mentoring a team of scientists and engineers accountable for Trace detection technology and engineering throughout the product lifecycle from conceptualization to product decommissioning.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team management – you will oversee engineering and scientific managers as well as subject matter experts.
- Program management and technical execution – You will ensure that the product vision is realized through excellence in execution.
- Technical leadership – You will co-develop the technical strategy with the CTO and maintain a technical roadmap to drive innovation.
- Strategy development – As the engineering leader for Trace detection, you will collaborate across disciplines with peers and colleagues in Engineering, Sales, Service, Product Management, and Operations to develop company and product strategies.
Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 per annum
Required Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- 12 years of proven leadership experience in technology and product development.
- Experience in Ion Mobility Spectrometry and Mass Spectrometry instrument design and applications.
