Job Description

Oskar Huber Furniture & Design is seeking a talented Interior Designer and/or Furniture Sales Consultant to join our team. Openings are currently available in both of our locations, Ship Bottom, NJ and Southampton, PA. This opportunity offers a successful career with the potential to earn 100K . Job Summary:

Furniture Sales and Design Consultants are part of a high-performance sales force that is responsible for engaging customers, listening to their furniture needs, offering knowledgeable recommendations, and providing an exciting shopping experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve success by ensuring that all prospects are greeted in a warm and timely manner (within 1 minute of the customer entering the store)
  • Qualify prospects by asking a series of questions to help identify the merchandise desired, style, size, quality, and budget
  • Determine if a house call is necessary and if so, present the process and follow through if the prospect is so inclined
  • Present prospects the appropriate home furnishing selections including fabric and style combinations
  • Suggest furniture size, period, style, color, fabric, and wood that will complement customer's home (and other furnishings) and provide a solution to the customer’s needs
  • Explain quality of furniture with customer including fabric, finish and quality of construction.
  • Maintain current knowledge of product line features and benefits for all products on the sales floor and review new products when they come onto the floor
  • Adhere to in-home design expectations and policies; maintain current driver’s license and auto insurance in good standing for company record keeping
  • Conduct sales in a professional manner; maintain knowledge of the layout of the showroom.
  • Attend training seminars or meetings as scheduled
  • Will work “up system” and “over-flow” on the sales floor in a professional and fair manner; ability to be a team player
  • Completes all paperwork related to sales and service promptly according to company procedures.
  • Follow-up with all customers through the use of thank you cards, phone calls, etc. to ensure satisfaction, obtain repeat sales and ask for referrals. Make regular, planned follow-up calls to customers who have delayed their buying
  • Maintains a properly functioning and thorough customer account file
  • Receives payment, obtains credit authorization and verifies other payment methods according to company procedures
  • Facilitates customer complaints regarding delivery of damaged or incorrect merchandise.
  • Uses computer database to research availability of merchandise and status of orders to assist customers
  • Maintain assigned area of showroom
  • All design consultants will share the responsibility of assisting with non-selling duties such as organization of sales floor and sales related housekeeping responsibilities
  • Adhere to company policy requiring all design consultants to work their scheduled hours
  • Work a schedule of assigned shifts and hours
  • Ability to have flexibility with a work schedule to meet customers’ needs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Higher Education
  • Interior Design Certification or design experience; sales experience preferred
  • Computer skills necessary; ability to work with company computer software
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to space plan
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screen
  • Provide and maintain valid driver’s license and auto insurance for company record keeping
