Performs inspection, maintenance, and/or restoration of utility infrastructure. Responsible for the direct supervision of field crews while planning, organizing, and coordinating daily field operations for various job types. Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Perform work according to standard work practices, procedures, and customer specifications, including but not limited to excavating soil, inspecting structures, applying preservatives and/or coatings, installing steel trusses, and restoring the job site to its original condition.
  • Maintain good customer and public relations by maintaining a professional appearance, being courteous, and communicating in a clear, respectful manner
  • Maintain a positive company image, including the appearance of the crew, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Hire, train, motivate and supervise a crew of up to ten (10) employees of diverse backgrounds and skill levels
  • Effectively manage daily work and crew to meet safety, quality, production, expense control, and crew management goals.
  • Organize resources and prioritize work to complete job within established time frame.
  • Operate vehicles to transport material, equipment, and crew to and from job site—including utility vehicles (UTVs) and trailer towing as needed
  • Collect, record, and submit accurate, complete and timely data related to timekeeping, payroll, and work performed.
  • Promote and enforce safety by conducting daily briefings, weekly safety meetings, ensuring safe work practices are followed, monitoring and maintaining tool condition, and ensuring all drivers of company vehicles are qualified through company programs.
  • Properly maintain all vehicles, equipment, and tools used by the crew.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Enforce and comply with all company and/or customer-required policies and procedures, including but not limited to crew member coaching, disciplinary action, a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace, prohibition of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); possess some specialized training or at least three (3) months of related work experience. Must successfully complete all aspects of a three (3) to eight (8) week Foreman Training Program, covering administration, crew management, pesticide application, safety, and driver qualification. The length of training is dependent on the profit center and/or type of service.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certifications (e.g., American Heart Associate, Red Cross). May be required to obtain (or work under) a state pesticide applicator license. May be required to obtain and pass a DOT medical exam.

Ability to effectively communicate using e-mail, read and follow maps, understand and follow complex procedures and specifications, and utilize a handheld data collection device (e.g., tablet or handheld computer). Must have strong computer skills and the technical aptitude to learn Osmose software applications. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. They must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. The employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk; hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may routinely handle and/or apply preservatives, coatings, and/or other chemical substances. The position regularly works in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, and exposure to poisonous plants, insects, and allergens. The employee may also be exposed to energized electrical equipment and will be required to take appropriate precautions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with short periods of loud noise exceeding 85 decibels.

Varies by customer and/or location, and can include frequent Monday through Friday overnight travel throughout one or more states. Extended work weeks and overtime hours are probable during peak work periods or for specific jobs. Must maintain consistent attendance record and be available for work Monday through Saturday.
