What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trapp Farm Fellowship position at Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center?
Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center is a public 501(c)(3) non-profit environmental learning center near Sandstone, MN that provides outdoor educational opportunities to diverse audiences in an intimate setting. Gain experience on our 107-acre Trapp Farm as we grow produce in what will be our fifth season of production! Grow high-quality, nutrient dense food while stewarding the land and adding to your farming skills. You will work with our farm manager(s), operations director, volunteers and other workers while doing a wide variety of farm tasks. This position is a physically demanding job and often works alone.
Responsibilities include:
- Fieldwork (soil prep, planting, weeding, cultivation, harvest)
- Processing (washing, weighing, packing)
- Delivering of produce to OW kitchen and local schools
- Farm stand (setting up, and taking down)
- Farm infrastructure projects
- Record keeping
- Farm tours for donors and participants
- Communal housekeeping duties for onsite housing
Qualifications:
- Ability to commit to a full growing season, from May/June through Oct/Nov 2025, and live on site
- Ability to frequently lift 25- 50 lbs
- Some experience and/or huge passion for small scale intensive organic vegetable farming is a plus
- Ability to do physical work under varying weather conditions
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Attention to detail and pride in a job well done
- Great communication and customer service skills
- Excellent at following written and verbal instructions
- Can move body efficiently and often to kneel down, bend over, and crouch
- Ability to balance speed and quality of work in a set time frame
- A valid driver’s license
- Respectful and builds community with others while living in shared housing
- Valid First-aid/CPR/AED certification is a plus!
