We seek a passionate and talented individual to join our instructional team as an Outdoor/Garden Part-Time Educator. The ideal candidate will foster a love for nature, wellness, and sustainability while integrating hands-on learning experiences. This role includes teaching students about garden care, healthy eating, personal wellness, and the benefits of time spent outdoors.Position Details: Part-time: 20-hour work weekTeaching Commitment: 4 one-hour classes on Mondays during Quarter 1 (September & October) and Quarter 4 (April & May).Garden Management: 12 hours per week dedicated to maintaining the school garden, coordinating with local gardeners, and developing outdoor learning opportunities.Program Development: Work with the Outdoor Classroom and Curriculum Director to develop and manage the schools outdoor garden and wellness program. Responsibilities: Teach engaging, developmentally appropriate, and experiential lessons focused on nature, wellness, gardening, and sustainabilityDevelop and implement outdoor learning activities that support students physical, emotional, and mental well-beingManage and maintain the school garden, ensuring its sustainability and functionality as a learning spaceCollaborate with local gardeners, community members, and volunteers to enhance garden-based learningWork closely with the Outdoor Classroom and Curriculum Director to align programming with OSS instructional pillarsSupport the integration of health and wellness principles into outdoor education experiencesEngage students in hands-on activities that promote environmental stewardship and responsibilityParticipate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunitiesOther duties as assigned
