- Design and implement lessons and activities to promote native language and culture development following themes and goals of the program.
- Interact with and help students engage in learning and community building activities.
- Promote effective use of time and materials, and set standards for student accountability.
- In cooperation with other staff, maintain the well-being of students in the program. Use classroom and behavior management plans, individual conferences with students and/or parents as needed.
- Maintain an attractive and functional environment; keep facilities orderly.
- Attend all planning meetings as scheduled by the Lead Teacher, both before the program starts and during the program.
- Keep student related records such as attendance, registration and medical forms, schedules and other as determined necessary.
- Be knowledgeable of the overall mission of the district, Summer Employment policies and procedures.
- Experience translating and interpreting, preferably in an educational setting.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Considerable knowledge of multicultural, gender and disability fair curriculum concepts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and instructional technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to effectively facilitate and/or participate in team meetings and parent meetings.

General Purpose of Job: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. The Multilingual Summer Academy is a five-week program designed to engage multilingual learners at the elementary school level in learning opportunities to enhance their language skills and life experiences through a variety of activities.
Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be fluent in both English and Hmong. Level of language proficiency required: able to read, write, and speak all styles and forms of the language fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs. Proficiency level must be equivalent to that of a native professional. Ability to effectively interpret and translate complex information to bilingual students and families.
Desired Qualifications:
FTE: Hourly, approximately 7-8 hours/day; 4 days/week (M-Th), for five weeks. Staff hours may vary slightly. Enrichment instructor rate of pay determined per salary guidelines
Salary: Licensed teachers ($35/hour Schedule D of the teachers contract); $24/hour for non-licensed staff
Employment Dates: June 30, 2025 - July 31, 2025, with some pre-summer planning and meetings the week of June 23rd
