Sr. Desktop Support - Long term contract
This is an opportunity to be part of a team in an enterprise corporate environment.
Skillset to include :
- Advanced and extensive Windows 10 and 11 expertise, including but not limited to :
Understand / use log files to troubleshoot issues
BSOD events
Performance issues / Event ViewerFailed cumulative updatesKnowledge of DISM commandsDriver management (Add and Remove)
Cleaning up the file systemWindows PowerShell KnowledgeAdding and removing Windows packages
Review Windows monthly patches for potential issuesCreate batch file installers / scriptsUnderstanding MSI commands and switches
Testing / validatingCustom OS Image
Verify software is working properlyDriver ManagementUnderstand and maintain driver packages and driver versioning
Reviewing new hardware from HP to test for any issuesCreate documentation / Run BooksMonitor the disk space of computers in our environment and remediate any low disk spaceSr. level desktop support skillsInteracts well with the Tech Support team and internal customers / end users in the organizationJob duties include :
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics :
Analyze system logs, including Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) events and Event Viewer records, to identify and resolve system performance issues.Utilize Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or other deployment tools to troubleshoot failed cumulative updates.System Administration :
Employ Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or other deployment tools to manage driver installation and removal processes.Execute DISM commands to clean up the file system and optimize system performance.Leverage Windows PowerShell scripting to automate system tasks, such as adding and removing Windows packages.Create and deploy updated software packages (i.e. Adobe) using either Microsoft SCCM or Batchpatch.PC Health Checks, Patch Management and Security :
Review Microsoft Security Bulletins and other security advisories to assess the potential impact of monthly security patches on system operations.Develop and test custom installation scripts, including MSI packages, to streamline software deployment.Run PC health check reports, such as disk space reports, and clean up computers with low disk space.Image Management and Testing :
Create and maintain custom Windows images, ensuring compatibility with hardware and software requirements.Conduct thorough testing to validate the functionality of installed software and drivers on custom images.Driver Management :
Manage driver packages and versioning to maintain system stability and compatibility.Evaluate new hardware from HP to identify potential compatibility issues and develop imaging / deployment procedures.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing :
Create comprehensive documentation, including runbooks, to facilitate troubleshooting and system maintenance.
