What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Administrator position at OSTechnical?
Our client is looking for a skilled IT Systems Administrator to manage and maintain the backbone of their IT infrastructure. This includes both on-prem and cloud-based systems that keep our business running smoothly. From servers to storage to security—you’ll play a central role in keeping it all connected, protected, and performing at its best. This is a direct hire role that will be located in their Upland office with two days of optional remote work.
In This Role, You’ll:
- Oversee and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows), both locally and in cloud environments
- Monitor system performance and respond proactively to prevent issues
- Handle routine patching, updates, and security configurations
- Manage storage solutions with a focus on reliability, availability, and access control
- Support collaboration tools including SharePoint and OneDrive
- Maintain backup processes and participate in disaster recovery planning and testing
- Administer Active Directory including user access, permissions, and Group Policy
- Use scripting/reporting tools for system analysis, performance tracking, and audits
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of hands-on experience in IT system administration
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments and Active Directory
- Familiarity with SharePoint, OneDrive, and cloud-based tools
- Comfortable working with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam) and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware/vSphere)
- Bonus points for experience with HP Nimble or similar storage technologies
- Able to analyze and troubleshoot complex issues across systems
- Strong communicator who can work both independently and with cross-functional teams
