The OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Officer.
General Summary:
The EHS Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing, and monitoring the accountability of environmental and life safety standards and operations. This includes conducting regular inspections and training to reduce safety risks and maintain life safety protocols on campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Policies: Create, review, and maintain policies and procedures related to campus and life safety.
- Safety Inspections: Conduct regular checks in academic, administrative, and student areas to ensure compliance with policy and procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain records on safety issues, such as fire extinguisher maintenance and hazardous material labeling.
- Safety Training: Develop and facilitate safety training opportunities and provide guidance on safety areas for compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
- Routine Audits: Conduct routine safety audits of all facilities and communicate audit results to the Director of Public Safety.
- Quality Control: Maintain a quality control program to ensure standards are met and oversee ADA compliance.
- Additional Duties: Perform various other life safety and security duties as assigned.
Specialized Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Safety: Perform specimen disposal, conduct fume hood checks, and maintain chemical inventories.
- Hazardous Material Management: Assist with hazardous material spillages and coordinate cart/forklift driving and operation.
- Training and Compliance: Provide required training on pertinent topics and maintain injury reporting and OSHA 300 logs.
