What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Services Investigator position at Oswego County?
Oswego County Social Services has an immediate opening for a Social Services Investigator to be responsible for research and investigation of referred cases to assure compliance with New York State Social Services Law where there is allegation or suspicion of fraudulent assistance or request for assistance. The incumbents gather evidence and documentation, including individuals' statements, to develop legally acceptable cases.
Qualifications: Completion of 60 semester credit hours two (2) years of experience in social work or in a position involving substantial contact with the public in interviewing or investigative capacity; OR Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma four (4) years of the above experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate to the vehicles operated or otherwise demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
This title has been approved to be filled without the need to take an exam for a limited period through the HELP Program. Candidates appointed permanently to this title will NOT need to take an exam and will remain in their position even when the HELP program ends.
Pay Rate: $24.53 per hour plus competitive benefits package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance; NYS Retirement; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
