Operating Room Inventory Control Coordinator
BROAD FUNCTION: The OR Inventory Control Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Rooms by overseeing the inventory management, and distribution of supplies. Reports to the Direct of Materials Management, performs procurement activities for Surgical Services (OR) procedural areas in a cost-effective manner using current inventory management processes and procedures, within Materials Management Information System (MMIS). Coordinates supplies, instruments and equipment for Surgical Services. Obtains specialty implants, and initiates tracking per regulatory requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicates needs to collaborating team members, orders supply and optimizes efficiencies in supply management.
- Systematically addresses par levels and expiration dates in conjunction with team members.
- Maintains product availability, works with vendors as appropriate to insure adequate levels and/or appropriate substitutions are maintained, tracks back orders and works with collaborating team members on alternate planning
- Coordinates recall and substitute products.
- Plans, conducts, and oversees inventory and variances.
- Proactively plan for future supply needs by reviewing department reports and procuring goods in a timely manner.
- These reports include but are not limited to procedural area booking sheets and procedural area schedule.
- Maintains SUR item/implant database (works in item control daily). Must take items from item master and edit them to complete the documentation required for SUR documentation and builds every item in SUR inventories.
- Obtains implantable devices and initiates device tracking per regulatory requirements.
- Examines all received implants and specialty stock items for quality, quantity, and accuracy of items compared to original order.
- Establish and monitor appropriate inventory levels and monitor supply charges and procedures. Involvement in cost savings initiatives.
- Organize and participate with the OR physical inventory counts as required for materials management.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and monitor stock replenishment.
- Communicate with departmental teams regarding supply needs and issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Computer literacy with experience in data entry required.
- Previous knowledge Meditech inventory management systems, or related MMIS.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Pay Range: $20.00-$25.00/hr
Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
