This role involves managing projects related to water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater drainage, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing system efficiency. The specialist collaborates with engineers, contractors, and municipal departments to improve infrastructure and troubleshoot pump-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Implementation
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee municipal pump system projects from design to completion.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for pump-related infrastructure improvements.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work with consultants and contractors to develop efficient and sustainable pump solutions.
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot pumps, motors, and related equipment.
- Monitor pump system performance and recommend upgrades or repairs.
- Oversee installation, calibration, and testing of new pump systems.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Work closely with public works, utilities, and engineering teams.
- Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and contractors for equipment procurement and servicing.
- Provide technical guidance and training to municipal staff on pump system operations.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater pump systems or related infrastructure projects.
- Experience with SCADA systems, hydraulic modeling, and asset management software is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, lift stations, and pressure systems
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical components of pump operations.
- Proficiency in CAD software, GIS mapping, and pump performance analysis tools.
- Understanding of EPA, OSHA, and local municipal codes for water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
