Assistant Director, International Admissions

We are searching for an experienced Assistant Director, International Admissions at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

The Assistant Director, International Admissions is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of recruitment activities and strategies to enroll international undergraduate, graduate and summer language program students. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing effective international recruitment plans to increase international student enrollment and diversity. Assists with managing agents representing the college abroad. Reviews and evaluates applicants to determine qualification for admission to Otis. The position involves extensive travel internationally working nights and weekends. Virtual international recruitment will at times require unconventional working hours. This position reports to the Director of Admissions.

CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • With Admissions leadership, develops international recruitment plan and schedule, building relationships with key international feeder schools. Schedules art classroom visits and represents the college at portfolio day events, college fairs and other international events. Establishes and maintains a network of relationships with international secondary school counselors, art teachers, and portfolio prep programs. Responsible for booking own travel and submitting reconciliation reports on a timely basis.
  • Works collaboratively with agents presenting Otis to various markets. Assist with their training and onboarding. Maintain consistent communication regarding applicants and advise of their next steps. Answer questions and respond to requests as they arise.
  • Reviews student artwork and credentials during appointments and portfolio review events. Offers solutions to applicant problems and answers questions regarding admissions policies and / or procedures.
  • Counsels' prospective international students through the application process.
  • Reviews application credentials from international applicants and makes admission decisions.
  • Reviews student I-20 documents and advises on the student visa process. Assists in collecting student documents by conducting personalized outreach.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of international yield events as budget permits.
  • Assists with international student on-boarding and participates in international student virtual and in person orientation sessions, accepted student events and virtual meet-ups.
  • On occasion, represents Otis College locally and nationwide at events within Los Angeles or the U.S.
  • Communicates with prospective and accepted students via in-person and virtual interviews, by telephone, messaging apps, email and video outreach.
  • Assists with the Summer Language Program, including recruiting, onboarding, orientation and student engagement during the program.
  • Conducts research to determine strategic expansion into new international markets. Keep track of trends in international education, sharing research and findings with Otis Admissions team.
  • Acts as the liaison for International Student Outreach Mentor in summer months advising them on yield and engagement activities for enrolled students. Effectively direct student's time to help communicate with and prepare incoming international students.
  • Participates in local, regional and national dialogue on international education.
  • Collaborates with the College's Communications & Marketing department to develop effective international marketing materials including print, web, video and social media. Assists with translating documents in language of fluency.
  • Stays up to date on College policies affecting admissions, recruitment, financial aid, transfer credit evaluation, and other areas related to enrollment. Participates in and contributes to meetings, training programs, and the department's overall operational goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours on occasion.

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

At least three years of international education / recruitment experience.

Fluency in Mandarin or Korean language.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong public speaking skills.

Proficient in using Zoom and delivering presentations both in person and virtually.

Self-motivation, self-discipline, and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

Must be willing and able to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.

PREFERRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE :

Prior experience working at an art / design institution or with creative students highly preferred.

Strong computer proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Office and CRM experience preferred.

FLSA Status : Exempt

Compensation Type : Annual Salary

Salary Range : 65,185.00 - 78,744.00
