What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teaching Associate position at Otis College of Art and Design?
We are searching for an experienced Teaching Associate at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Observes and/or assists in all areas of educational delivery of that course.
- Learns how tests, exercises, assignments and/or projects meet the course’s Learning Objectives and how the course fits into the department’s curriculum.
- Becomes familiar with Otis College academic policies and procedures, including grading and attendance as described in the Student and Faculty Handbook.
- Becomes familiar with the course syllabus, course content, assigned readings or materials, assignments, and/or projects.
- Learns how to use the College’s learning management system.
- Becomes familiar with all tools, computer programs, labs, and facilities necessary to teach the course.
- Observes and/or practices course preparation and delivery as necessary to instruct the course in a future semester.
- Leads instruction as assigned by the faculty of record.
- Assists faculty in carrying out and following up on instruction to individual or small groups of students as assigned.
- Assists faculty in maintaining control of assigned classes to ensure a suitable learning environment both on-campus and/or virtually.
- Works with student groups during field trips or site work, especially if students are in separate locations as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to work efficiently, cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexible and willing to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Comfortable working in a multicultural environment and committed to fostering an inclusive culture
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook
- Demonstrated experience in and a commitment to diversity; the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with various constituencies within Otis’s diverse communities, internally and externally.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation Type: Hourly Wage
Salary Range: 30.00 - 30.00
