The Early Childhood PreK Instructional Coach will serve as a mentor, support, and coach for teaching teams supporting PreK programming in GSRP, ASD and ECSE classrooms.
Qualifications/Skills:
- A Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a Special Education endorsement and 5 or more years relevant job experience in early childhood education
- Proficiency in both spoken and written Spanish and English strongly preferred.
- Ability to provide coaching, training, and written resources in Spanish and English.
- Skilled in fostering culturally and linguistically inclusive practices in early childhood settings.
- Experience supporting children with IEPs in General Education classrooms is also highly preferred.
- Experience with Practice-Based Coaching or other coaching frameworks.
- General knowledge of Special Education, IEPs, and PreK programs including ECSE, ASD, and Head Start.
- Strong knowledge of GSRP requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of Michigan Childcare Licensing preferred.
- Experience using My Teaching Strategies Smart Teach (formerly Gold) Assessment, Creative Curriculum, PELI Literacy Assessment, and ASQ.
- Knowledge and experience with classroom quality tools such as TPOT and CLASS Assessment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.? Ability to be clear and precise.

- A strong ability to build collaborative professional relationships.
- Ability to be flexible and possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Time management and prioritization skills are needed in order to work on multiple projects at once while prioritizing importance.
Job Summary/Responsibilities:
- PreK Instructional Coaches use Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) framework to support targeted classrooms towards quality improvement.
- Collaboratively coach teaching teams to support all PreK-aged learners through the implementation of classroom strategies that are innovative, research-based, and best practices in Early Childhood Education.
- Conduct program quality assessments (CLASS) in GSRP classrooms. In collaboration with PreK teaching teams, design and implement CLASS continuous improvement plans for all assigned classrooms.
- Support GSRP classrooms via monitoring to ensure policies and requirements are being met.
- Serve as an advocate for high-quality PreK programming for all children within OAISD, including supporting the Early Childhood team’s vision of providing more inclusive opportunities for all children at the PreK level.
- Create collaborative relationships in order to provide a minimum of monthly support to classrooms through PBC cycle including targeted observation, reflection & feedback, shared goal writing & action plans.
- Ability to provide varied strategies to best meet the needs of individual staff and teaching teams.
- Willingness to complete a variety of Professional Learning opportunities, including Practice-Based Coaching, CLASS, SEEDS Literacy Framework, TPOT, ASQ, and others as determined appropriate.
- Collaboration with local teachers, administrators, and other staff to continue to provide high-quality programming for PreK-aged children across OAISD.
- Develop and facilitate professional learning and intervention information and materials as needed to support teaching teams and individual children through MTSS and data review processes.
- Analyze and synthesize data to improve child and classroom-level outcomes. Ability to analyze data from IEPs, Teaching Strategies Smart Teach (formerly GOLD), LRE rubric, parent reporting, CLASS, TPOT, and observations.
- Coach teaching teams with child-specific accommodations and interventions as needed in all areas of development including cognitive, motor, literacy, math, social-emotional, and language.
- Strong focus on supporting SEL classroom and behavior management.
- Consult and collaborate with the Early Childhood PreK Instructional Coach team to align and cohesively support all programs across the OAISD.
- Attending local, statewide, and national Professional Learning as appropriate.
- Model and demonstrate both foundational and higher-level skills and knowledge needed to be a champion of Early Childhood Education driven by a passion for supporting all young children in learning, development, and education.
Calendar: 210 days, extended school-year. .80 f.t.e. This position operates primarily during the traditional school year plus additional days outside of the traditional school-year.
Compensation: Pay Grade 16: $53,100 - $73,000 depending on experience, degrees, certification, and other qualifications, (especially bilingualism). Full benefits package is provided. Cash in lieu of insurance is available.
