Job Description:
Under the direction of a Program Coordinator, performs eligibility screening assessments to children, adolescents, adults, and families requesting services from Community Mental Health (CMHOC). This includes assessing eligibility for treatment of mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Secondary duties include prescreening calls requesting services.

This is a full-time benefited position working out of the CMH Campus in Grand Haven, MI. Typical working hours are Monday-Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. Occasional travel to other County locations may be required. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Provides eligibility screening assessments to individuals seeking CMHOC services, including clinical assessments, risk assessments, diagnosis, eligibility determinations, and referrals.
  2. Ensures that services to consumers meet CMHOC standards of quality and quantity.
  3. Provides consultation to other agencies regarding services and mental health issues of consumers and referrals.
  4. Collaborates effectively and efficiently with other teams within CMHOC and other community agencies.
  5. Maintains all agency paperwork and clinical record documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  6. Attends and participates in agency and team meetings.
  7. Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, including, but not limited to, visual and/or audio logical appliances, and devices to increase mobility.
  8. Work is performed in an office/clinical environment or in the community.
  9. Other jobs as assigned.
Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related mental health field is required. Two years of relevant professional experience in a mental health agency preferred.  Lived experiences with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders are valued.

Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess or obtain State of Michigan licensure as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Limited Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Limited Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Limited Licensed Counselors, or Temporary Limited License Psychologist. Additional certification as a CADC, CAADC and CCS are preferred. Candidates who are close to obtaining the required licensing may be considered. Required Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Thorough working knowledge of DSM5.
  2. Thorough working knowledge of structured assessment tools such as the LOCUS, CAFAS, PECFAS, and C-SSRS.
  3. Thorough working knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code as it pertains to Access Center operations.
  4. Thorough working knowledge of assessment and interventions for consumers dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.
  5. Flexibility in the selection of appropriate interventions for each consumer.
  6. Good understanding of agency processes, procedures, and quality assurance principles.
  7. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Participates with and accepts clinical and administrative supervision.
  10. Shows willingness to learn and use new skills, and takes regular advantage of internal and external training and staff development opportunities and resources.
  11. Thorough working knowledge of proper medical record documentation and management.
