Position Summary: Facilitate research, development, review, writing, and editing of applications for grants. Research potential funding sources and work in collaboration with staff in developing grant applications and processes. This position will report to the Tribal Development Specialist.

Job Description (Daily tasks and formal activities):

  • Monitor Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), the Federal Register, and other notifications of public and private sector resources available
  • Conduct research on potential funding sources and compile required specific data for grant applications and compliance
  • Identify related goals between programs and departments to facilitate the tribe’s plans and assist in developing synergies to highlight in future competitive grants
  • Collaborate with staff and elected officials to develop ideas into grant proposals
  • Obtain and maintain needs assessment data to help guide strategic planning
  • Prepare grant applications and review and edit them for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to the grantor’s guidelines
  • Respond to correspondence and requests for information from internal and external entities, as required
  • Review contracts, agreements, and other documents as they relate to grant funding applications
  • Maintain master list of grants received, amounts, effective dates, and other pertinent data
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Presentation and public speaking skill
  • Proven track record of successful application for grants and financial resources for Tribal entities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Discretion with confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5 Years of Relevant Experience
  • Certified Grant Writer or ability to gain certification within 12 months of hire

Indian and Tribal preference will be followed in hiring as allowed by law.

This position is subject to background check and drug test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
