CONSTRUCTION / LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN (FT)

POSITION:
CONSTRUCTION / LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN (FULL-TIME) Ottine Mineral Springs is seeking a skilled and dedicated Construction / Landscape Technician to play a vital role in maintaining the resort's pristine beauty and ensuring a tranquil environment for our guests. This individual will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, including construction projects, landscaping maintenance, and general upkeep of the resort's grounds. You'll be a key member of our team, ensuring the resort maintains its peaceful aesthetic while ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests.
This position requires some nights, weekends, and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas ensuring they are healthy, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and safe for our guests. This includes, but is not limited to, mowing, trimming, pruning, edging, weeding, planting, and mulching.
- Water, fertilize, and provide necessary treatment to trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plantings as required. Manage the seasonal planting and rotation of flowers and greenery.
- Assist with landscaping projects such as landscape installation, walkway creation, or adding decorative features that enhance the resort's overall aesthetics.
- Ensure all outdoor areas, including pathways, driveways, and common areas, are free from debris, litter, and hazards.
- Monitor plants for signs of pests or disease and apply appropriate solutions as needed.
- Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of all landscaped areas.
- Maintain and service landscaping tools and equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, and other machinery.
- During colder months, assist with de-icing to ensure safe access to all resort areas.
- Perform various construction tasks including framing, roofing, drywall, installation, painting, and concrete work, in line with project specification.
- Assist in site preparation, including clearing, excavation, and grading.
- Always have constant awareness of safety hazards and report findings to supervisor.
- Implement and adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and any potential issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Due to changing operational demands, it may be necessary to undertake various functions that are not specifically related to this position. This individual may be required to carry out additional tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Additionally, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and modification.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 6 months of experience in landscaping, horticulture, or related field. Experience in resort, hospitality, or wellness environments is a plus.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Strong understanding of landscaping techniques, plant care, irrigation systems, and pest control.
- Knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Reliability, punctuality, and professional communication skills are critical.
- Proficient in the use of landscaping and construction tools and machinery.
- Attention to detail and an eye for design.
- Ability to identify plant health issues and implement solutions.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- CPR and first aid certification a plus and /or the willingness to be trained.
- Ability to walk or stand and move about the resort (both indoors and outdoors) for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and the capacity to communicate effectively and professionally.
- The person in this position will need to be comfortable working in an indoor/outdoor use space.

COMPENSATION:
$17 - $20 / HR DOE
