POSITION:
SECURITY GUARD (FULL-TIME) The Security Guard plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of the resort, its employees, and its guests by deterring and addressing theft, vandalism, and incidents of violence. This role involves patrolling, monitoring, and responding to situations to uphold a safe and welcoming environment. Additionally, Security Guards assist guests and staff as needed, respond to alarms, and document daily activities in written reports.
This is a full-time position requiring some nights, weekends and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry and monitor a radio or phone to respond to safety or security calls promptly.
- Operate equipment such as a firearm, baton, taser, or other security tools as needed and authorized.
- Patrol the resort grounds, including perimeters, parking lots, and buildings on foot or using a utility vehicle.
- Inspect surrounding property to identify potential risks or rule violations.
- Utilize security cameras as directed by the General Manager and / or Human Resources ensuring limited access as appropriate.
- Serve as a resort ambassador by supporting the Front Desk and Managers-On-Duty (MODs).
- Maintain a visible presence to deter criminal activity and reassure guests.
- Assist with managing guest and employee parking during busy periods including holidays and weekends.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Safety Manager to develop crisis management teams and protocols.
- Monitor and enforce property speed limit.
- Respond to alarms, investigate issues, and take appropriate actions in emergencies.
- Call law enforcement or emergency services when necessary and assist with investigations as directed the GM, HR, or Compliance Safety Manager.
- Support employee relations activities, such as terminations, on a case-by-case basis under HR Manager.
- Help investigate guest-related incidents including disruptions or injuries.
- Responds to disruptive or unruly guest behavior in a professional manner taking appropriate action to de-escalate situations and, if necessary, enforcing resort policies by requesting guests to leave the premises.
- Have a thorough understanding of the amenities and directions to / from resort.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Stay updated on safety and emergency procedures as well as OSHA requirements.
Due to changing operational demands and the need to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to undertake various functions that are not specifically related to this position. This individual may be required to carry out additional tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Additionally, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and modification.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays required.
- Access to OSHA-compliant safety shoes, long pants, and long sleeve shirt.
- Must be at least 21 years old and physically able to work 4-8 hour shifts.
- Preferred background in military or law enforcement; knowledge of self-defense is a plus.
- Must demonstrate high moral standards, honesty, and decision-making ability.
- Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry preferred.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Reliability, punctuality, and professional communication skills are critical.
- Ability to work under pressure with a high level of patience and customer service.
- CPR and first aid certification a plus and /or the willingness to be trained.
- Ability to walk or stand and move about the resort (both indoors and outdoors) for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and the capacity to communicate effectively and professionally.
- The person in this position will need to be comfortable working in an indoor/outdoor use space.
- Possess physical strength, mental stamina, and the ability to remain alert at all times.
- Must pass a thorough background check with no criminal or drug history.
- Valid Texas driver’s license required.
- If required to carry a firearm, must meet legal qualifications or possess a related college degree.
