Job Overview
Ounalashka is seeking a highly experienced Lead Environmental Scientist to lead our environmental restoration projects in rural Alaska.
About the Role
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop work plans and schedules.
- Work closely with site Superintendents to execute approved work plans.
- Serve as the technical lead for environmental scientists in data collection, site investigation, evaluation of data collected, and remediation activities.
This role requires extensive experience in environmental fieldwork, including contaminated soil sampling, removal action, monitoring well installation and sampling, and Phase I/II site investigations. Strong knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA regulations is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site reconnaissance, including sampling activities.
- Conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Review and prepare technical reports and proposals.
- Participate in the development of scope of work, budget, and proposals.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. A strong understanding of remote field settings and the ability to work independently are also essential.
