Job Summary
The First Mate plays a crucial role in the daily operations of our vessel, assisting the Captain in navigating and managing the crew while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all passengers. This position requires strong leadership skills, mechanical knowledge, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The First Mate will also be responsible for various tasks on board, including cooking and maintaining equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in navigating the vessel and ensuring safe operations.
- Oversee the crew and delegate tasks to ensure smooth functioning of all activities on board.
- Prepare meals for crew and passengers, ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and rigging to maintain safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with passengers and addressing their needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all areas of the vessel.
- Assist in training new crew members on safety protocols and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role or relevant maritime experience is preferred but not a requirement.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on hospitality.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative when necessary.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques and safety practices is advantageous.
- Must possess a valid maritime certification as required by local regulations.
