Position Title: Program and Prevention Manager
Location: Reno, Nevada
Salary Range $45,000 - $50,000 DOE
Classification: Exempt
Start Date: April 1, 2025
Position Summary
The Program and Prevention Manager leads programming at an LGBTQ community center including responsibility for grant funded youth drug and alcohol prevention programs and community center programs. Preparing reports and maintaining appropriate filing systems for reporting on grant funded programming is an essential function of the position. The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools such as the Google suite of applications and the Microsoft Office suite as well have the ability to learn specific interfaces for demographic reporting required by funders.
Program Management:
- Coordinate a portfolio of programs including community-led programs of a social nature for our youth, transgender and senior populations.
- Coordinate programs related to primary prevention at Our Center and in partnership with coalition members in the community.
- Train program leads and volunteers on Our Center policy and procedures.
- Work with the Marketing Coordinator to promote programming in the community and do outreach to underserved populations.
- Manage program development process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, public health or a related field required; Master’s degree (preferred).
- Experience working with people.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to achieve goals through coordination of many individuals and activities.
- Ability to accept and work within a wide variety of cultural, educational, and religious differences.
- Flexibility and willingness to cooperate with the team.
Expectation is to become a certified Prevention Specialist and complete the Prevention Specialist exam within one year of being in the position.
Physical Requirements:
Working conditions are typically in a controlled environment, but some outdoor activities might be conducted in conjunction with outreach. Primarily a sedentary role, but some walking or standing may be required. Outreach programming includes traveling to area schools and traveling to community outreach events.
- Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on the vehicle used is required.
- Required to regularly talk or hear to communicate effectively.
- Required to frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel, especially in use of computers.
- Required to occasionally bend, stoop, or lift up to 25 pounds as necessary.
- May be required to occasionally travel or work outside of the office for limited amounts of time.
