Job Summary:


The primary responsibilities of the Learning and Development Specialist are to assist in the development and
execution of training initiatives and conduct New Employee Orientation/new hire training while acting as a
liaison to all new hires. Responsible for creating and maintaining operational/procedural reference materials
and maintaining knowledge necessary to be the Procedural Subject Matter Expect. Ensure efficient and
effective department operations by providing back up support to the Learning and Development Supervisor.

Essential Job Duties:

Conducts in-depth training on OURCU's history, philosophy, Core Values, Moments of
Truth, professionalism, and Service Standards for new employees, as well as refresher
courses for existing staff members. Utilize appropriate technologies to design, develop,
and deliver training curriculum to support identified needs. Ensure new and existing
staff are proficient in credit union systems.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain operational/procedural reference materials. Ensure they
are user friendly and accessible to staff as necessary and that curriculum remains
relevant to the needs of the credit union. Conduct training sessions on policies and
procedures both in person and remotely. Evaluate to ensure
understanding and retention of course material.


Act as a first line resource for staff in regard to systems and operational support by
building strategic relationships across departments, remaining current on all credit
union policies and procedures relevant to training initiatives, and serving as the
Procedural Subject Matter Expert. Also responsible for making on site visits to check in
on training progress, as needed.

Oversee outside training records for all staff. Ensure that proper tracking and reporting
is maintained.

Acts as a liaison to new hires to ensure a smooth transition from the training
environment to their main branch.

Other duties as assigned.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations,
including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills


Experience:
Two to five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.


Education/Certifications/Licenses: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.


Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. Indepth
dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside
vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience.
Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of
significance.

Physical Requirements:
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and
occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones,
copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8
hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or
requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.


Working Conditions:
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on
own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral
instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand
computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable
sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from
diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of
customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with
composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of
exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
