Position Summary:
The TBCI Program Coordinator provides overall support and management for the
Thriving Black Church Initiative. This role focuses on supporting Church Ambassadors,
coordinating events, and ensuring resources are accessible, accurate, and effective in
advancing TBCI’s mission.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide administrative and operational support for the Thriving Black Church
Initiative.
2. Manage TBCI reporting on activities related to key meetings, events, and
information required from partner churches.
3. Serve as the primary contact for Church Ambassadors, offering ongoing support
and guidance to enhance program implementation at the congregational level.
4. Manage the learning groups and discussion forums, working collaboratively with
ODBU’s systems administrator to troubleshoot issues and actively improve the
user experience.
5. Coordinate and execute virtual and in-person events, including training sessions,
workshops, and community gatherings.
6. Manage event logistics, from scheduling and registration to technical support and
post-event follow-up.
7. Work to ensure a welcoming and inclusive experience for all participants,
providing materials and support that encourage active engagement.
8. Ensure learning resources, digital toolkits, and program materials for TBCI
participants are organized, up to date, and easily accessible to participants.
9. Collaborate with authors, SME & content teams to identify and prepare materials
tailored to TBCI’s audience and certification program needs.
10. Liaise with other departments to ensure alignment of resources and programs
with the needs of African American congregations.
11. Coordinate with communications and marketing teams to share program updates
and promote engagement across participating congregations.
Job Specifications
Job Title: Program Coordinator
Study or Knowledge and Experience:
● Familiarity with Black church communities and a commitment to developing
culturally relevant educational resources.
● Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Christian Education, Theology, Business, or
related field (master’s preferred).
● Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects and
meeting tight deadlines.
● Excellent collaboration and communication skills, particularly in working with
subject matter experts and across departments.
● Maintains a high working proficiency in the LMS (LearnDash), Microsoft Office
suite, Adobe Creative Suite software, and other tools as needed.
● Strive to live a life consistent with biblical principles, engaged with the Bible on a
consistent basis and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.
Internal Work Environment:
Internal communication consists of collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders,
principally ODB University, the VOICES Collection (Publishing), ODB Media, and
Marketing. Because we work in a Christian ministry, staff are required to demonstrate
tact, discretion, sensitivity, confidentiality, and adhere to ODBM’s values, mission, and
vision as a centered organization.
External Communication:
Interfacing with contractors, vendors, partners (Strategic Governing Partners), churches
and donors. Required to demonstrate tact, discretion, sensitivity, confidentiality, and
adhere to ODBM’s values, mission, and vision as a centered organization.
Leadership Responsibility:
This position helps manage the process of course development, instructional design,
and general program management.
