JOB TITLE: Assistant Softball Coach
JOB DESCRIPTION: There are multiple exceptional opportunities in the OLGC softball Program
for both former fastpitch softball players, as well as experienced fastpitch softball coaches, to
build upon the school’s rich tradition of athletic accomplishment. Ideal candidates will have a
passion for the unique game of fastpitch softball. These candidates will also have, among other
qualifications, effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, earned a college
degree and have previous successful experience playing and/or coaching competitive fastpitch
softball.
JOB TYPE: Assistant Coach - OLGC Softball Program (multiple positions)
LOCATION: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, 17301 Old Vic. Blvd., Olney, MD 202832
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Nick Alexander, Head Coach - OLGC Softball
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Head Coach-OLGC Softball and/or the Head Coach-JV Softball, and in
collaboration with a diverse coaching staff, assist in one or more of the following:
- the development and execution of pre-season and season practice plans, including
to achieve practice objectives;
- the management from beginning to end of competitive fastpitch games, both home and away;
conditioning, fall and winter training, and other workouts as may be held;
• the development and implementation of a recruiting program to attract student-athletes
who will be successful in the classroom as well as on the field; and
• the management of various administrative and school-related responsibilities, including
participating as appropriate in student-focused events.
In addition, OLGC Softball Program staff:
• interact with student athletes of different ages and skill levels in a positive, encouraging,
and professional manner;
• interact with a variety of OLGC faculty and staff in a positive and professional manner; and
• embrace the core values of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and models behavior
consistent with those values.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have previous successful experience either playing for a competitive fastpitch softball
program at the collegiate and/or travel program level(s); and/or coaching a competitive
fastpitch softball at the high school, travel, and/or collegiate level(s).
SKILLS:
The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of and passion for the game of
fastpitch softball. Such candidates will also have effective communication skills, strong
organizational skills, and the ability to interact in a positive, encouraging, and professional
manner with a variety of students and OLGC staff.
REQUIRED WORK HOURS:
The start of the season is late-February and ends in early May. The ideal candidate is available
in-season to attend all games and most practices. Such candidates are also looking for
something longer-term and would also be interested/available to assist with recruitment
activities in the summer and fall, and workouts in the fall and/or winter.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
This is a stipend position. The stipend range is $500 - $2,000. The amount is dependent on
pertinent experience and the specific role filled.
