JOB TITLE: Instrumental Music Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for teaching instrumental music courses in grades 9-12.

LOCATION: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, 17301 Old Vic. Blvd., Olney, MD 202832
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Reports to Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for lesson planning, teaching, and assessing music skills and
content as well as forming students in a manner consistent with a Xaverian Brothers
Sponsored School. Responsible for preparation of and attendance at several performances
and events that occur outside of the school day in the evening.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in related content area required. Master’s Degree and
state certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Student teaching or similar experience required. 3-5 years teaching experience
preferred.
SKILLS: Ability to plan and deliver effective lesson plans, assess student learning, work as a
member of a collaborative team, communicate with students, parents, and colleagues,
enforce school policies, and follow school procedures. Ability to effective leverage technology
in performance of duties.
REQUIRED WORK HOURS: Part-time, 10 month, exempt.
SALARY: $24,552 - $55,000
Additional stipends are available for teaching Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Pep Band.
These classes take place after school.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
The annual base salary range is commensurate with experience. Good Counsel offers a
