Job Summary:
Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Technical Support Specialist to support our school community. The Technical Support Specialist will provide Help Desk Support Services, addressing hardware, software, access, and network-related problems, etc. reported by users, train users, as well as support Mercy Events. The candidate must have 2-5 years experience with maintaining and working with Windows desktop and laptop computers, as well as familiarity with Microsoft tools, e.g., Google, and Outlook. Candidates should be comfortable and patient with supporting end-users' needs and questions. The candidate should be able to work well with minimal supervision. A strong desktop/server/network hardware and software background is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing, maintaining, and troubleshooting issues with new PCs, servers, and network infrastructure components
- Work with various technologies including desktops, servers, printers, Smartboards
- Flexibility with occasionally scheduled projects after hours and/or weekends
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS (10 and greater) setup and configuration
- Strong documentation skills
- Strong personal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong hardware installation and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to troubleshoot most MS Office questions and concerns
- Working knowledge of routers, switches, and firewalls
- Firm understanding of TCP/IP routing and Windows networking
- Knowledge of CAT5e / 6 Ethernet cabling requirements
- Knowledge of audio-visual equipment/processes, e.g., streaming, MICs, cameras, etc.
- Knowledge of Mac OS
- Assist with Project Management as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Skills:
- Client Hardware/Software knowledge (laptops, Chromebooks, Surface Pros, Smartboards, and experience with Apple Hardware)
- Excellent technical (client hardware, printer) diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- System management skills
- Ability to document technical information for non-technical users to comprehend
- Ability to stay current product knowledge and keep technical skills up to date
- Knowledge, and ability to assist with Blackboard tools (Razor’s Edge, and Academic modules) are a plus

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
- Three-plus years working in a school or business IT Help Desk/technology department
- Experience with G Suite for Education administration, Microsoft Office 365, and information technology resources and services is important
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to lift up to 25lbs and move around various program spaces, including outdoor environments
- Sitting, standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, or crouching are all part of this position
Pay Range: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour (salary commensurate with experience)
This is a full-time, non-exempt position
