Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated K-8 Reading Specialists to teach in our Summer Reading Program. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver engaging, research-based reading instruction that supports literacy growth and fosters a lifelong love of reading in young learners. This role is instrumental in preparing students for academic success by addressing individual reading needs, implementing targeted interventions, and collaborating with educators, parents, and program staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
*Program Planning & Instruction:
-Develop and implement a comprehensive summer reading curriculum tailored to a small group of 5 to 6 grade K-8 students.
-Plan and facilitate interactive, age-appropriate literacy activities that enhance reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, vocabulary, and phonemic awareness.
*Student Assessment & Intervention:
-Conduct pre/post assessments.
-Monitor student progress through ongoing formative assessments and adjust instruction as needed.
*Collaboration & Communication:
-Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for supporting reading at home.
*Record-Keeping & Reporting:
-Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments.
-Prepare and share progress reports with stakeholders at the end of the clinic.
