Job Summary
The Department of Mathematics & Sciences at Our Lady of the Lake University seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar for our main campus in San Antonio, TX to begin in August 2025. This position will focus on Functional Anatomy, Strength and Conditioning and Biomechanics. Each applicant should have a faculty mentor. Appointments are made for one year and may be renewed annually for up to 2 additional years, as determined by the Program Directors and Evaluation Committee, depending on performance.
We are a vibrant department currently serving over 120 majors. Our department prides itself on its campus-wide recognition of our student-centered approach to teaching, engagement in community service, and scholarly activity.
The Kinesiology program takes a cross-disciplinary approach and requires a broad core for all students. Our Kinesiology Laboratory is a teaching/research laboratory space including equipment for exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription.
Start-up funds will be available to purchase equipment for biomechanics laboratory equipment that will support experiential learning and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CURE).
Essential Functions:
We are seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join our team to complement and strengthen existing expertise and experience. Specific duties of the position include:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Functional Anatomy, Strength and Conditioning, Biomechanics, and additional courses related to the candidate's expertise.
- Contribute to the design or development of course content, syllabi, and learning materials
- Adapt existing curriculum to reflect new research or pedagogy.
- Engage in an active line of scholarship that will include participation of undergraduate students.
- Redesign undergraduate courses to include project based learning and relevant laboratory experiences.
- Providing guidance to students including support of student projects
- Participating in professional development opportunities related to both teaching and research
- The typical teaching load is a 4/4 but a course release is provided in the first semester of employment.
Most courses are offered in a face-to-face format, but some hybrid and online course offerings exist.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requirements
- Evidence of effective scholarship.
- Doctorate in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning or a related field. ABD will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- NSCA or CSCCA certifications
- Scholarly productivity in the areas of Biomechanics and Strength and Conditioning.
- Evidence of effective teaching
