Office Assistant Job Description

Job Title : Office Assistant

Job Description : The Office Assistant is an important role in the function of Our Savior Lutheran Church and

works for the community of Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Office Assistant works closely with OSLC Pastor,

the council president, vice-president and treasurer. The Office Assistant provides the OSLC members with

important church related information.

Qualifications :

Associates degree in business, IT, or 5-year office experience with Quick Books and program layout.

Church Office experience preferred.

Good organizational skills

Good interpersonal communication and language skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Knowledge and ability of computer systems, social media, and some experience with Quick Books

Responsible to the president and vice-president of the church council and Pastor :

  • The church council president and / or vice-president will provide direction, support and review with the input of
  • the Pastor and treasurer as follows :
  • 1 month probation
  • Meet on a quarterly basis to review the position and duties
  • Yearly evaluation

Duties : Priority :

  • Assists the Pastor in preparation and printing of liturgical bulletins
  • Assists the church treasurer :
  • Gathers & processes invoices approved by the church treasurer with a vendor payment chart
  • Enters information obtatined into Quickbook
  • Other Duties :

  • Answers phone calls, greets visitors, and picks up mail and distributes mail
  • Sends out weekly Church News via email and hard copies as needed
  • Sends out weekly quarterly Liturgical Ministry lists and communication
  • Provides a quarterly Liturgical Ministry List
  • Prepares and prints Annual Church Report
  • Sends out church Budget Report as provided by the church council
  • Orders church supplies as needed : liturgical, office, janitorial, etc with prior approval of the church treasurer if amount is over $100.00
  • Schedules church rental space
  • Other Job Requirements :

  • Physical demands : Hand strength and dexterity. Mostly sitting during the 10 hours with occasional walking and standing. Able to lift 25 lbs. Physical adjustments may be made as needed.
  • At various times of the church year, the duties may be more demanding and require an increase
  • in daily or weekly hours. This would require prior approval from the council president, vice-president or treasurer
  • Adherence to changes in office needs as requested or revised by the Pastor, church council or treasurer
  • Terms of Employment :
  • Total of 10 hours weekly from 9 : 00 AM to 2 : 00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday is required
  • PTO : Prior Approval from the council president, vice-president or Pastor
  • Meets the qualifications, duties and job requirements as stated in the job description
