SUMMARY:
The paralegal position researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist the General Counsel by performing a variety of support duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Prepares legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation, stock certificates and other securities, buy-sell agreements, closing papers and binders, deeds, and trust instruments for review, approval, and use by VP, general counsel.
- Investigates facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.
- Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail
- Prepares affidavits of documents and maintains document file.
- Prepares real estate closing statement and assists in closing process.
- Acts as arbitrator and liaison between disputing parties.
- Acts as law librarian, keeping and monitoring legal volumes and ensuring legal volumes are up-to-date
- Searches patent files to ascertain originality of patent application.
- Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
- Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
- Provide support for all phases of litigation including calendar management, legal research, analyze case law, case management, document review, discovery management, and trial prep.
- Transactional work to include reviewing purchase and sale agreements, LOI’s, escrow documents, title documents, closing documents, as well as agreements related to franchise operations and leasing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years’ relevant experience in the following:
- Litigation
- Corporate Law
- Employment Law
- Business transactions
- Leasing
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Paralegal Certificate preferred
- Experience with pleadings, motion work, discovery process, and trial.
- Experience in Commercial Real Estate and Restaurants Franchise Operations preferred
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Westlaw.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Offering $70k - $90k / annual
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
