Job Summary
The Trencher Technician is responsible for providing essential support to trenching operations for solar installation projects. This role involves assisting with the excavation and preparation of utility and photovoltaic (PV) trenches, installing electrical poles, and constructing and installing H Frames. Success in this position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to meeting project deadlines with efficiency and precision.
Job Responsibilities
1. Trenching Operations
- Assist in preparing and digging utility and PV trenches for solar installations.
- Ensure trenches meet project specifications and adhere to safety guidelines and alignment requirements for solar panel installations and utility lines.
2. Equipment Maintenance
Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of trenching equipment to ensure it is in optimal working condition.Report equipment malfunctions or damage to the supervisor promptly.3. Electrical Pole Installation
Aid in the installation and setup of electrical poles to support solar infrastructure.Work closely with the team to align poles with project requirements.4. H-Frame Assembly and Installation
Support the construction and installation of H-frames for electrical equipment.Verify proper alignment and structural integrity during assembly.5. Safety Compliance
Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).Maintain awareness of underground utilities to prevent damage or accidents during trenching.6. Team Collaboration
Work closely with electricians, solar technicians, and other team members to align trenching activities with installation timelines.Communicate effectively to ensure workflow efficiency and address issues as they arise.7. General Construction Assistance
Perform construction-related tasks, including site preparation, material handling, and equipment setup.Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely project completion.Required Skills and Qualifications
2 years of trenching experience within the solar industryUnderstanding of construction tools and safety practices.Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift heavy materials.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred.OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.Candidate Requirements :
1. Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.At least 2 yearsExperience with utility and PV trenches is required.Knowledge of installing electrical poles and H-frame assembly is required.Construction background is preferred.2. Physical Requirements :
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold weather.3. Travel and Flexibility
Be available for travel to project sites, including overnight stays as needed.Adapt to varying work schedules and extended hours to meet project demands.4. Schedule Requirements :
Monday-Friday, 5 : 00 AM - 3 : 00 PMOvertime will be required as needed, with potential for 12 hour workdays depending on the project deadline.Physical Requirements
