Security Officer Level III - Christian Ministry

The Ministry: The mission of OurCalling is to glorify God by leading homeless individuals to Christ and making disciples on the streets. OurCalling is a ministry specifically focused on the unsheltered homeless community. We operate an outreach center for the homeless community near downtown Dallas. We are passionate about loving and helping the unsheltered homeless transition to better lives. We are a faith-based ministry where every job is a ministry position. Each staff member should be able to clearly share the Gospel and communicate their own testimony. While everyone on the team wears multiple hats, our primary function is getting people off the street and helping them walk with Jesus. We want everything that we do to point to Jesus. We serve 200-400 guests daily. We are a “no-barrier” facility that is welcoming and compassionate to all who enter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities: The Security Officer (SO) role is a full time position.  The SO’s primary responsibility will be to provide security coverage during OurCalling’s normal service hours Monday through Saturday each week. The SO will be a minimum Level III licensed officer as part of the Security team, and as such, is responsible for maintaining an environment conducive to safety.  All Security Team members are considered the “first-responders” to any security-related issue including proactively protecting our guests, staff and volunteers from threatening behaviors. Responsibilities also include operating or utilizing within the ministry, all security protocols, procedures, and support systems including security technologies, in a manner that is consistent with the mission of our ministry.  The position will be 40 hours per week.

Other responsibilities will include the following:

• Protect guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors on premises and during entry and exiting off of the property
• Patrolling and securing OurCalling premises
• Remaining vigilant of and investigating suspicious activity
• Deescalating difficult situations
• Conducting regular checks of the entire property
• Reporting maintenance issues or hazards
• Using de-escalation tactics, including appropriate physical force when necessary, to maintain peace and order
• Working overnights shifts for inclement weather days
• Always representing the ministry as a disciple of Christ

Experience/Background:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years experience as licensed Level III security officer
• Proof of licensure and training for each apparatus in tool belt
• Minimum 1 year managerial experience in a security role

• Ability to stand for long periods of time and work overnight shifts, as needed
