Reporting to the Facility and Operations Manager, the Custodial and Maintenance Assistant performs skilled maintenance work in the preventative maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment. This is a second shift position, Monday-Friday, 3pm-11:30pm.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.Performs skilled maintenance work in one or more trades.Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and other technical specifications.Performs minor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building repairs.Maintains grounds and operates small to medium sized equipment such as snow plows, snow blowers, lawn mowers, power broom, power riding vacuum, medium-duty trucks and wheeled loaders; performs landscaping-related duties.Performs heavy cleaning work, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping waxes, buffing floors, washing walls, windows, and woodwork, dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning restrooms, and replenishing supplies. Operates related equipment including manual and automatic floor scrubber, rug shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, etc.Operates, maintains and repairs all equipment necessary in performance of duties.Empties and transports garbage to designated areas.Paints or assists in painting.Repairs walls, furniture, etc.Prepares and maintains required reports and forms. Requisitions supplies as required.Performs snow removal in parking lot areas. Salts and Shovels sidewalks.Unloads freight.Provides transportation services using wheelchair accessible vans to transport Residents to and from appointments. Maintains awareness of safety and quality assurance standards and procedures.Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to see person-directed care as an important component in providing villagers with a sense of health and well being.Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to conform to goals, policies, and procedures of the Environmental Services Department, Brewster Village, and Outagamie County work rules and terms of employment.Ability to use necessary tools to complete mechanical and electrical repairs and preventative maintenance.Ability to read and understand code enforcement manuals and ensure compliancy with current codes. Ability to read and understand building prints and equipment manuals.Ability to lead a small group of semi-skilled workers and/or projects staff.Possess necessary interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with Villagers and Brewster Village staff.Ability to work in a various trade settings that involves daily work with plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinkler, fire alarm, mechanical, and electrical trades.Ability to order parts and maintain proper stocking levels.Ability to assure that federal, state and local laws as well as accepted professional standards and principles of professional organization, boards and councils are followed.Ability to operate and understand general mechanical equipment, computer equipment, and a variety of software applications.Ability to work Overtime as needed. Flexibility in schedule.Essential Physical DemandsAbility to stoop, bend, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds frequently, understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.Ability to climb stairs and ladders on a continual basis.Ability to work from heights in up to 50 feet in the air.
