What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Education Assistant (Seasonal) - Mosquito Hill Nature Center position at Outagamie County?
The Environmental Education Assistant works with the staff naturalists in all facets of the educational and recreational programs as well as upkeep of trails and property of the Outagamie County Parks System at Mosquito Hill Nature Center.
Typical Work Hours: Mondays: Off; Tuesday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Occasional Saturday and / or Sunday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.Location: Mosquito Hill in New London, Wisconsin

**Expected start date for this role is May 5, 2025.
The following duties are most critical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned:
staff naturalists with or lead age-appropriate ecology and outdoor programs for children and/or the general public.
Help plan and assist staff naturalists with the Summer Ecology day camp program.
Research and/or update program topics/activities and develop new educational/recreational programs.
Maintain and develop educational displays.
Care for nature center animals.
Assist with daily operations of the nature center grounds and interpretive building.
Some weekend work required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to hike on uneven trails and endure the outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Enrollment at a college with an emphasis in a natural resource field or education program is preferred.

? Basic understanding of local ecosystems, plants, and wildlife
? Ability to research and update environmental education materials
? Experience or willingness to learn animal care for educational purposes
