Outagamie County Recycling & Solid Waste provides local residents and businesses with recycling and landfill disposal services, along with education, waste reduction and material reuse ideas. We have long-term solutions to the area’s recycling and solid waste needs. The state-of-the-art Tri-County Recycling Facility, located in Appleton, WI, is one of the largest publicly owned and operated single-stream recycling facilities in the United States. The facility processes over 80,000 tons of material each year, serving most northeast Wisconsin communities.
Reporting directly to the Solid Waste Equipment/Facility Superintendent the Recycling Equipment/Maintenance Technician performs generalized labor and technical skills in the maintenance and repair of machinery, buildings and equipment.
Hours: The core hours would be from 3:00am – 11:30am although the individual will need to work different schedules as needed to cover for vacations and sick days.

The following duties are most critical for this position. These duties are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment using tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and pressure gauges.
- Maintain and repair electrical motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, hydraulic pumps, and gear reducers.
- Produce clear and accurate documentation for all maintenance activities.
- Prioritize and adjust tasks based on evolving needs and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, including working overtime as required.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in equipment preventative maintenance and repair.
- Facility maintenance experience is required.
- Technical school training or trade certifications (preferred but not required).
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Valid Drivers License
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Broad electro-mechanical expertise.
- Knowledge of trucks, tractors, and light equipment operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with computerized building maintenance systems and basic electronics troubleshooting.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics and technical drawings.
- Skilled in the use of tools and equipment related to electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or powertrain systems.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

- Standing and walking for extended periods.

- Stooping, kneeling, bending, and crawling in confined spaces.
- Performing repetitive hand and wrist movements using tools.
- Visual acuity to work safely around moving machinery.
- Work Environment: The technician will thrive in a dynamic, loud, and often dirty environment, ensuring the functionality and safety of critical systems and equipment.
