Vice President, Communications

AI is evolving at breakneck speed, rockets are becoming commuter vehicles for billionaires, and quantum computing is on the verge of rewriting everything we know about processing power. The world needs sharp communicators who can not only keep up but translate these seismic shifts into stories that matter.

That’s where you come in! As Vice President, Communications, you’ll lead the charge on AI and emerging tech accounts, steering a team of up to ten while leading media relationships, client strategy, and team development. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Communications, this role is equal parts communicator, strategist, and team builder—with a side of futurist. And the best part? You’ll be working with some of the most influential and disruptive brands shaping the future of AI and emerging tech.

We’re looking for someone who can navigate the big issues defining the next era of technology—whether it’s AI’s insatiable demand for compute, energy as the new bottleneck, the quantum leap ahead in processing power, or the new space race happening in low Earth orbit. You should have a foundational understanding of these topics and strong media relationships spanning newsletter writers, podcasters, and journalists across digital and print.

What You’ll Do

As Vice President, Communications, you will :

Client Focus

Lead strategic communications for top-tier AI and emerging tech companies, helping them shape narratives that drive impact.

Develop and execute creative communications plans that align with both client and agency goals.

Take ownership of account success, focusing on client satisfaction, employee retention, team efficiency, and account profitability.

Own overall fiscal responsibility for accounts, including monthly forecasting, budget oversight, and client communication surrounding financial investments.

Structure and staff account teams effectively, ensuring optimal resourcing to meet client communication goals.

Anticipate industry shifts and proactively position clients at the center of major conversations in AI, space, and frontier tech.

Prepare clients for high-stakes moments, including interviews, launches, events, and interactions with key audiences across platforms from traditional media to the newsletter / podcast / social creators

Secure high-impact media opportunities by leveraging established industry relationships.

Lead media training and positioning and messaging workshops, helping brands distill complex topics into clear, compelling narratives.

Guide crisis management efforts when needed, pulling in internal expertise and mitigating risks for both clients and the agency.

Internal Leadership & Team Development

Directly manage a team of eight to ten employees across various levels, ensuring clarity around roles, goals, and career development.

Serve as a day-in, day-out mentor and leader, fostering a high-performance team culture through ongoing coaching and feedback.

Drive talent attraction and strategic hiring, partnering with the Talent team to bring in top-tier communicators and thinkers.

Cultivate the next generation of leaders by mentoring Account Directors and Supervisors on media strategy, client management, budgeting, and team leadership.

Actively contribute to business development, from identifying new opportunities to crafting pitch strategies and leading presentations.

Partner with senior leadership to identify organic growth opportunities for existing accounts, expanding service offerings and deepening client relationships.

Act as an agency thought leader, representing strategic communications in industry events, speaking engagements, and media opportunities.

Design and deliver internal training programs, ensuring teams stay ahead of emerging trends in AI, communications, and media strategy.

What You’ll Need

B.S. in Communications or related, advanced degree preferred

10 years public relations, media relations, corporate communications experience (can be combined)

7 years direct experience supervising individuals and managing teams

6 years project management experience

Demonstrated success in : managing and developing key personnel, strategy, implementation, client relations and counsel, staff oversight and mentoring, and agency fiscal management

Excellent writing and editing skills

Deep industry knowledge

Understanding of complex products, services and solutions
