Role Summary : Dispatch local flatbed and dump deliveries. Through best practices and efficiency maximize truck utilization, while maintaining superior customer service. Manage drivers and company assets at your assigned location.
Job Responsibilities
- Dispatch local deliveries and coordinate local material pick-ups
- Manage drivers' daily delivery logs including delivery fee accuracy
- Analyze all daily pre-trip and daily inspection reports
If defects are found or service is needed, coordinate with transportation and store management for a plan that minimizes down time, while ensuring our assets are repaired and serviced as required. This will require critical thinking and cooperation to provide continued customer service, while maintaining the longevity of our fleet
Maintain equipment identification numbers (decals) to ensure records and expenses are tracked to the correct unitManage driver FMCSA hours of service regulations and pre-trip inspection reportingManage company assets preventive maintenance and repair programEnsure drivers logs are reported for payroll in a timely mannerEnsure all drivers maintain their fuel and mileage logs and fuel receipt match their logs.This is especially important at locations with bulk fuel tanks
Send fuel logs and receipts quarterly to the transportation department for IFTA filingTrain on-site personnel and operators as to what is expected before the asset is operated each dayTrain on-site personnel and operators on what OLS' procedures are when assets need repairTrain our operators to recognize warning signs, hopefully preventing catastrophic failureCreate a maintenance schedule for each type of equipment. It needs to include all daily responsibility as well as the hours / miles that PM services are to be performedHelp facilitate and schedule PM's and repairs. This includes coordinating with our own mechanics, 3rd party repair facilities and leasing companiesAnalyze repair expenses, approve and enter PO's. Relay information to upper management if anything looks out of lineInspect assets, audit reporting procedures and provide trainingIdentify potential suppliers, conduct market research, and analyze supplier capabilities to ensure the procurement of high-quality goods at competitive pricesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with suppliersAnalyze pricing proposals, evaluate cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize procurement costs without compromising quality or delivery schedulesPerform duties as requested by your supervisorOperate with FORTITUDE : Fun, Optimisms, Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Trust, Unity, Drive, and EmpowermentMinimum Job Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalentMinimum of 1 year of experience as a dispatcher or related fieldExcellent organizational skillsAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to make quick and accurate decisionsProficiency in MS Office Suite, scheduling software, and other related softwareAbility to work under pressure in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of local roads and routesMust be willing to travel up to 10%Other Skills and Abilities
