We’re hiring a Camping & Paddling Buyer to manage seasonal purchasing and drive sales performance in both departments.

Employment Type: Full Time
Reports To: Store Manager
Location: On-site – Wilton, CT
Schedule: Must be available to work weekends
This position combines inventory planning and purchasing with high-level customer engagement. The Camping & Paddling Buyer is responsible for pre-season orders, in-season fill-ins, and maintaining stock flow, while also acting as a top-performing salesperson on the floor. This role supports the team with product expertise and sets the tone for knowledgeable, customer-focused selling.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and execute seasonal buying plans using sales data and vendor input
- Place and manage preseason, in-season fill-in, and customer special orders
- Monitor inventory performance and identify slow sellers
- Coordinate with receiving and floor staff to maintain stock accuracy and availability
- Serve as a top salesperson in camping and paddling departments
- Support merchandising and share product knowledge with teammates
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in outdoor retail or purchasing
- Strong product knowledge in camping and paddling
- Proficient with email, spreadsheets, and retail systems (training provided)
- Organized, dependable, and customer-focused
- Available to work at least one weekend day
